Swim, snorkel and sightsee at Land's End and Lover's Beach at the Baja Peninsula, Mexico.
A visit to Cabo San Lucas is not complete without a trip to see its landmarks: Land’s End and Lover’s Beach. At the southern most tip of the Baja peninsula where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez is a series of rock formations carved into fantastic shapes by wind and sea. The most famous rock formation is an arch known as El Arco or Land’s End. Behind the arch on the Sea of Cortez side of Land’s End is Lover’s Beach or Playa del Amor. The easiest way to visit this beach is by water transportation. There are many different options of water transportation available. Vessels of all shapes and sizes can be found at the marina. Visit Land’s End and Lover’s Beach by: Water Taxi. These small boats for hire will take you to see Land’s End and drop you off at Lover’s Beach. You can arrange a pick-up time with your skipper or opt to take a different return water taxi. Glass Bottom Boat. This includes a forty-five minute trip to and around Land’s End before you are dropped off at Lover’s Beach. The glass bottom allows up close viewing of tropical fishes and craggy reefs. Kayak. Kayak rentals and guided tours are available. This is a great choice for active types. Semi-Sub Tours. This semi-submersible vehicle has large viewing portholes below the waterline to view tropical fish and other marine life. There is also a top deck to view the rock formations and skyline. Pirate Ship and Snorkel Tour. Snorkel equipment and non-alcoholic beverages are provided on this family-friendly ship. Dive boats. Diving instructors will take you to dive sites near Land’s End to view King and Cortez angelfish, butterfly fish and guinea foul puffers among other tropical fishes. Parasailing Boats. View the rock formations, the beach and the marina from high in the sky. Whale-Watching Adventure. During whale watching season (generally from December to March), these boat cruises include a trip around Land’s End as they try to spot humpback, gray and blue whales. Catamaran Cruises. Three-deck catamarans include gourmet meals and an open bar. Sailboats. Private Charters are available with an open bar and snorkel equipment on board. Many of the above charter operators have booths at the marina where you can sign up on the spot. Cabo San Lucas is a popular cruise port for Mexican Riviera cruises. In fact, most of the trip options above are also available as shore excursions for cruise ships. Therefore, expect crowds if cruise ships are in port.
